The following is a general guide to violin size for children:

  • A 6 to 7 year old child with a neck-wrist length 0f 18 1/2 inches, needs a violin that is 1/4 size.
  • A 8 to 9 year old child with a neck-wrist length 0f 20 inches, needs a violin that is 1/2 size.
  • A 10 to 11 year old child with a neck-wrist length 0f 22 inches, needs a violin that is 3/4 size.
  • Children ages 11 and up with a neck-wrist length 0f 23 inches and up, can use a standard, full-size violin.
